General Information so you can make the right choice
Be a responsible buyer and consider the
following to make the perfect choice.
Your family may not be a good candidate to the dog you are
looking for.
SIZE MATTERS
A lot of people are interested
on small, tiny or teacup size puppies to satisfy a few
situations in their life. But a tiny dog requires much more
care than a regular size dog. Please take a look and
consider the following:
-
They are prone to be hurt
by accident. If you have children, elder people, bigger
dogs then you should NOT buy a small dog. Even yourself
can hurt them in a sudden move.
-
They can get in trouble
very easy by getting inside or between furniture,
fridge, laundry machine, etc. They require more
supervision than a normal size dog.
-
In general most vets agree
that a dog is not supposed to be so tiny. All dogs comes from the wolves and
in order to reduce a dog in
such a small size they went through a lot of breeding
and inbreeding procedures to control their size so
expect genetic problems without a complaint.
-
They suffer from
hypoglycemia and don't make it well during the flight.
(Thousands of small puppies die from Hypoglycemia and if
you read health guarantees all over the web,
Hypoglycemia is NEVER covered).
This is why they
have to be shipped after the age of 10-14 weeks, this
takes more maintenance to the breeder and more money for
you to pay too.
-
If they get sick, they
don't handle diseases very well. A normal size dog has
about 30% to 50% better chances to fully recover from an
infection, disease or illness than a tiny dog.
-
They are prone to luxating
Patellas (Fixing this problem can cost over $1,500.00
per leg), Open fontanel, eye problems, etc.
Sizes over 10 Lbs (the bigger
the better) will handle much better most lifestyles in
America, Outdoor activities ( beach, swimming pool,
park activities) and they will not be an easy pray for a fox,
coyote, eagle, snakes, or a bigger dog.
BE WISE ABOUT THE
PUPPY'S AGE
Some people will try to demean
or devalue a puppy for it's age. Example: Some people will
assume that a puppy which is 3 months or older should be
cheaper in price. WRONG!!!!
It is a fact that most people
want a very young puppy. Only a few people will be
convinced to get an older puppy once they have gone through
a horrible experience. If you ask your vet what age is ideal
to buy a puppy, I'm sure you will get different opinions but
I'm also sure that most will agree that if they are current
on their shots, at 3 months of age or older is ideal and
here are the reasons.
-
Since all puppies are
vaccinated from age of 6 weeks, at age of 10 weeks will
have 2 shots and age of 3 months will have 3 shots. The
more shots, the better the chances for your puppy to
develop a stronger immunity to common environmental
diseases like Parvo and distemper (Which kills thousands
of puppies every year).
-
Longer period with Mom
helps, even if she/he was weaned already, this makes a
dog mentally and physically healthier.
-
At age of 3 months they
must have the rabies shots. Raccons, foxes, posums,
bats, etc. carry the rabies and there is nothing better
than having a puppy already vaccinated for rabies.
-
Saving on shots, each
shots will cost you an extra $30 - $45.
-
They are easy to potty
train, if not fully trained already). Of course expect
some adjustment period from the breeder's home to yours.
There is much more care, love
and maintenance invested on older puppies and they will be
priced correctly for all the benefits you get from them.
INFORMATION ABOUT VIDEO AND PICTURES
Most of people rely on our videos
buy our puppies. The most playful and active are
usually the
pups that normally sell faster.
In fact, all our puppies are
very
playful and sweet, but due to the way we have to
take videos and photos which is a time consuming
task, puppies are not always ready to feel playful.
Here is a few reasons that affects their outcome on
photos/videos
-
In order to take a video, the
puppy goes through a normal bathing and hair drying
process and (Most dogs don't like to be bathed),
this is a little stressful experience for them,
despite we dry their hair, also the change of
temperature makes the puppy start shivering and
people may think that the puppy is scared or sick.
Don't be mislead by a picture, all puppies will get
a health certificate before shipped.
-
The studio where the puppy stands
is mounted about 4 feet away from the floor. there
are 2 tables, one big one (bottom) and the small one
where the puppy stands. This is made for video and
photo precision but there are side effects, some
puppies will notice this height and it is normal for
a puppy to feel a little
afraid of it.
Example: Put a playful cat or puppy and lift
it at your own height level. You will see that will
turn into a scared kitten, but if you put them
back on the ground, their mood will go back to
normal mode.
It is very entertaining to see your
puppy playing before you buy, but unfortunately our
videos are not meant to display their true temperament
or personality (if you can tell at this young age).
Our videos are simply meant to show
you the puppy in full dimensions because in a video
there is more view than in a picture.
The same thing happens to some
pictures. Sometimes a puppy moves too much and we can't
get the right position (Puppy looking down, up, left or
right) and that's why we sometimes are unable to post a
happy looking puppy on a photo.
All puppies are happy and playful,
there may be a slight difference in temperament between
each other, since these are family oriented dogs, I am
sure they will fit perfectly in your family.
If you look on our
references, those
puppies were randomly selected and as you can see,
PEOPLE LOVE THEM!.
REGISTRATION PAPERS
Please don't buy a puppy for its papers, (AKC,
Pedrigree, etc), buy a puppy because you are in
love with him/her and because you will love him/her
unconditionally the same way they love you.
PRICES
Never buy a puppy judging the price.
Prices are just
relative and a
higher priced puppy is not any better than a lowered
priced puppy. Different breeders have different concepts,
criteria
or standards on their prices and that is how our prices can be very
relative. A lower priced puppy has the same friendly and
healthy conditions as the expensive ones so please don't
pick a puppy for its price, you should buy a puppy
because you fall in love with him/her. They all have wonderful
temperaments and are great for families, see our
references if you doubt it.
PUPPY-PROOF
THE NEW ENVIRONMENT
Your home may not be 100% ready for a new puppy. Your
new puppy will be quite small in size but will still be
able to get himself into trouble. Puppies are like
babies and love to play with everything. This means that
things at ground level that may cause a mishap; will need to be considered.
Puppies tend to put everything into their
mouths. Things like electrical wires and cords need
to be secured.
Another concern for your new puppy can be household cleaners and
poisons. Many people have household cleaners, bug and rodent
killers on low level shelves in their homes. For
instance,
you would want to make sure these items are placed on a
higher shelf when your toddler who is crawling around. This is important because virtually all of
these are considered to be poisonous to a puppy.
Household plants can be very harmful to your puppy. Some
plants are very poisonous to animals. Plants such as
Aloe Vera, Eucalyptus, and Baby's Breath are very toxic,
just to name a few. It is always best to check with your
local veterinarian before you bring your puppy home. The
vet can tell you which plants you may need to get rid
of.
It
is best to remove all objects from the floor and lower
areas of your home. It is recommended that you get down
to your puppy level and see what they see. This
can help you spot any problem areas and issue that you
might have otherwise over looked.
The toilet is another issue for a puppy. You must always
remember to keep the toilet seat lid down. Certain
cleaners in the water and in your toilet bowl can be
very toxic to animals. Also your puppy could fall in
head first and may not be able to get a grip to get out.
It is always recommended to keep the seat down.
If
you have a balcony or porch, you must not leave your
puppy unattended. Sometimes puppies tend to get to sneak
through the bars or find a little opening. They can slip
right through before you even have time to notice they
are gone. Also if your balcony is on a higher level this
is very important to remember because your puppy could
slip through the bars and fall, this could cause serious
injuries or even death.
GENERAL PET QUESTIONS
-
Are Second or multi generation
Poodle Hybrid dogs
hypoallergenic?. Yes, regardless of their generations. A puppy will always be hypoallergenic
if both parents are hypoallergenic, this is common sense.
-
Are only first generation
Hybrid dogs healthier?. In fact, the more far away you go from a pure breed the best chances to get
rid of the bad genes and come up with a genetically healthier dog. Purebred
dogs were initially created by mixing some breeds to come out with a cute
look, treats and behavior. In order to keep these line and standards, they did a lot of inbreeding
which was another type of cloning.
(Click
here to learn about pros and cons of inbreeding).
As long as there is no
inbreeding in practice, your 1st generation, 2nd generation or multi generation designer
breeds will always have better
chances to be healthier than pure dogs.
-
Is it true
that only Males are hampers?. Males and females hump. In fact,
humping is not a sexual
behavior, it is a dominance behavior and can be prevented by spaying or
neutering your dog before the age of 6 months.
-
Males pickup their legs when they urinate,
does that makes
females better pets?. Unfixed Males and females will mark territory
to show dominance when they feel unsecured.
Unfixed Males pick up their leg to urinate.
Unfixed females will have their period every 5-8
months.
Unless you are planning to breed them you should
have them fixed.
-
Which one has
better personality, male or female?
Everyone has different experiences, I personally
love them both. But based of what some people say...
*
Males may bound to more than one person.
*
Females may bound to only one person.
*
A Male may stay playful regardless of his age.
*
Females may not be that playful once they reach
adulthood.
In my opinion, I love them both, my males and
females are just wonderful in every sense.
AVOID
DISEASES
We will use the term “fully vaccinated” when a puppy has
received a total of 4 vaccinations “for Parvo and Distemper
virus” which are given every 2-4 weeks and the last
vaccination was give at the age of 16 weeks.
Please be careful and follow these instructions or tips that
will help you keep your puppy healthy. There are two deadly
contagious diseases which are spread all over the world and
you need to be careful while the puppy is Not fully
vaccinated.
Canine Parvovirus information and facts
Parvo virus is a deadly
disease that can be found in the environment in almost every
country of the world. It is transmitted directly or
indirectly and It can live for 2 years on the grass.
Directly transmission:
When a sick puppy/dog infects another directly through
saliva or feces.
Indirectly: If you
steeped, touched, or were in direct or non-direct contact to
an infected area, you can bring it home on your shoes, car
tires, clothes (if you carried a sick puppy) door knobs and
money can also transmit it, etc, etc.
Parvo is not an airborne virus but bird can spread it from
backyard to back yard sonce they come to eat the dog's food
too.
A combination of 4 oz of
bleach (I would use 5 oz at least) to a gallon of water will
be a good concentration to kill the virus.
Hand sanitizing DOES NOT kill parvo virus.
Once a puppy becomes infected, it takes from 3 – 8 days for
the puppy to show symptoms. (Looks depressed and Lethargic,
profuse diarrhea (eventually bloody), nausea, vomits.
Parvovirus has no cure and survival rates are only 50% of
treated animals. After being infected, only aggressive
treatment can be done with fluids and antibiotics to prevent
side defects like dehydration and infection.
Treatment may take 5-15 days for the puppy to either make it
or die. Sometimes after being saved by treatments they can
have internal damage.
Canine Distemper
Distemper is one of the most deadliest viruses on dogs,
because it is airborne, it is highly contagious. It can be
transmitted through urine, saliva, fluids, feces, etc. if a
puppy is infected, it has been known to infect others just
by breathing the virus out but it is more common to infect
thought sneezing and coughing. Symptoms can be runny eyes,
runny nose, coughing, sneezing, hard paws, rash on the
belly, diarrhea and eventually seizures, twitching and other
neurological problems may occur. Survival rates are low,
around 10% only.
Please avoid any possible exposure of your puppy while the
puppy is under vaccinated.
-
Don't take the under vaccinated puppy to public parks,
pet stores, groomers, etc.
-
When you go to the vet, go as early as possible, most
clinics only disinfect when they close or sometimes when
they open. If you don't go too early, take the puppy IN
A CARRIER, and don't allow anyone (including children)
or anything to touch your puppy. Try to wait on your car
if possible and have them call you when is your turn.
-
If you go to a pet store or to the vet to buy supplies
for your puppy, have the following item ready before you
go.
-
Buy an empty sprayer bottle, Fill it out with water, Add
2 Oz of bleach and spray your shoe's sole before coming
into your house, this bleach combination will only be
good for a couple of days, after 2 days dump the bottler
and prepare when needed. This is to avoid any possibilities of
bringing Parvovirus from the pet store to your place and
do this every time you come back from areas where people
take their dogs.
-
Wash your hands for 20 seconds after touching other
dogs, puppies, door knobs, or if you are coming from a pet store,
groomer, etc.
